Is the book “Thunder Dog” available in Braille or Cassett? My daughter, Teresa Moder is blind and would love to read the book.
Thank you,
Darlene McInenly
The book is also avaliable on Bookshare for those that would like to download it in Braille (brf). This book is a great read! I highly recommend it!!
Thunder Dog was the Best read of my summer. Telling everyone I see what a moving
Story. Thank you for sharing this moving story of History and all the other extra things.
I feel I learned so much my reading this book. God bless you
I note in your book that between 1941 and 1953 there were 10,000 blind babies due to excess oxygen in incubators. I was an incubator child in 1938 and did not experience issues with sight. I’m curious as to why there were issues in the period noted but not prior to 1941. Can you point me to a reference?
Thanks. I enjoyed your book, was a braille transcriber for more than 30 years, and I own an independent book store in Davidson, NC where Thunder Dog is one of my best sellers.
Not all children put in incubators went blind. However, there was a marked increase in children born in the late 40s and in the 50s, (baby boomers). This accounts for the increase in blind babies.
I am wondering what the target age for the book is. Is it a children’s book appropriate for a 10 year old?
Hi,
A ten year old could read it, but we do describe the collaps of the Twin Towers. Probably I would suggest that your child is a bit young. I just sold books at a high school event.
If you read it with your child so you can explain the event you would be fine. This is NOT a 9-11 book although the attacks play a part in the book. This is a book about my life and life lessons I am passing on.
It is still a best seller.
