This is a great interview that I did with Michele Rosenthal. As noted on her website “Change You Choose,” Michele struggled with un-diagnosed Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for 24 years. Then she was diagnosed and went on a healing rampage! Today she inspires others to reclaim their lives by creating change they choose.

Fake Service Dog IDs Causing Problems For Disabled

PETALUMA, Calif. –  Service dogs have special access to places that other dogs don’t, such as restaurants and airplanes, leading some people to lie and claim their pets are specially trained.

According to service dog trainers, all it takes for dog owners to obtain special access for their pets is a vest or a badge that says “Service Dog,” and such identification can be found online for just a few dollars.  Continue reading

Blind Golfers Tee Up Third Annual Shot In The Dark

Fort Worth, Texas (September 19, 2013) – The third annual Shot in the Dark Golf Tournament and Wine Dinner presented by EnerVest and benefiting Lighthouse for the Blind of Fort Worth tees up on Friday evening, September 27th at River Crest Country Club.  This is the third year for this unique event but will be the first year that blind celebrity golfers will actually be a part of the evening’s activities.

Hailing from Austin, sixty year old Harry Hester is married with one grown son.  He retired as a Rural Mail Carrier with the US Postal Service when his vision deteriorated due to macular dystrophy.  He currently works as a Teaching Assistant with autistic and special needs children.  Continue reading

National Federation of the Blind Comments on Gun Ownership by Blind Individuals

Baltimore, Maryland (September 12, 2013): In recent days there has been much discussion about whether blind individuals should be permitted to own and/or carry firearms.

The National Federation of the Blind, the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans, understands that guns are dangerous weapons, and that anyone who owns, carries, or uses them must therefore exercise great care and sound judgment in doing so. Blindness has no adverse impact on a person’s ability to exercise due care and good judgment. Continue reading

Hero Dogs of 911 – Airing on Animal Planet Sept. 10 8pm

Two years ago I participated in a documentary about the service dogs and first responder dogs involved with the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.  Animal Planet [Michael Hingson] in Canada picked up the show, but it was not until this year that Animal Planet in the U.S. did the same.  The show will air this Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 8PM.  Consult your local listing for verification of time and station.  Here is a link to the press release about the broadcast, http://www.prweb.com/releases/2013/7/prweb10958284.htm
